Angry Indian Goddesses trailer: India’s first ‘buddy film’ with women playing lead roles looks interesting

With a title like Angry Indian Goddesses, it doesn’t take a genius to figure what Pan Nalin’s latest film will be about – angry Indian women. Though the film is being touted as India’s first buddy film with women playing the lead roles, there actually has been some previous unsuccessful attempts at the genre before this. And there have been several films about women getting each other’s backs though they weren’t labelled ‘buddy films’.
The film’s cast includes Sandhya Mridul, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Sarah-Jane Dias, Anushka Manchanda, Amrit Maghera, Rajshri Deshpande and Pavleen Gujral. This may be Nalin’s first mainstream-ish film.
The trailer opens with a marriage announcement and subsequent excitement of the group of friends. The seven woman are then introduced, each shown to be as diverse as their names – Frieda, Suranjana, Nargis, Mad, Laxmi Joanna, and Pammi.

Throughout the trailer is laughter, there is romance, there friendship, there is quirkiness and then are glimpses of darkness with guns, knives and ‘angry’ women.

The video is enhanced with the poignant background song, Kattey composed by Ram Sampath, performed by Bhanvari Devi & Hard Kaur under the Coke Studio@MTV Season 3 label, which adds to he intrigue of the trailer.

Overall, Angry Indian Goddesses looks interesting.
