Could You Solve a Rubik’s Cube in Under 9 Seconds? He Just Did

8.75 seconds. That’s all it took for this ‘speedcuber’ from Canada to solve the Rubik’s Cube – with just one hand.

16-year-old Antoine Cantin set a whole new world record at the Toronto Open, Fall 2014 competition. He beat his own record of 12.56 seconds set at the Toronto Open Spring 2014, competition in April 2014.

Cantin’s 8.75 second feat was captured in this video posted on YouTube.

The video shows the composed teenage boy first looking at the cube, figuring out his moves. Seconds later you see the timer roll and the boy-genius taking to the cube like a pro. A blink or two later, he’s solved it.

What’s most amazing to see is the little fumble right before he realizes what he has accomplished.

Take a look at the video. You might learn a trick or two for the next time you pick up a Rubik’s Cube.
