Driving on thin ice: Motorist takes risky detour by crossing 1km-wide frozen river in their CAR

Motorist took unorthodox shortcut by crossing the Yellow River in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, in sub-zero temperatures

All alone surrounded by ice, this off-road driver took the ultimate shortcut across a river.

The mystery motorist took a somewhat risky detour in Mongolia by ignoring the nearest bridge and instead driving directly across the ice.

A similar situation in Britain would see firemen rushing to the scene in seconds, but the driver appears to know what they’re doing as they edged across the frozen river.

The bold driver took the alternative route across the Yellow River in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, in sub-zero temperatures.

The river is 1km wide and was frozen from one side to the other, after icy winter temperatures swept through Mongolia at the weekend.

Amazingly, the silver-coloured saloon car made it to the other side without plunging through the ice after a 10-minute drive.
