How To Build Any Successful Habit in Just 30 Days!

John C Maxwell Picture Quote Daily Routine

It’s no secret every successful person has developed insanely productive habits into their daily routine. They understand that success in every area of your life largely depends upon the actions you take and being consistent with those actions every single day.
A powerful personal growth tool for implementing positive habits is the 30-day kickstart, where you consciously implement a habit everyday, for thirty days – which is typically enough time to push this new habit into your subconscious mind and hopefully put it on autopilot.

This is a concept that has been around for years and almost every personal development leader will base their habit strategy on his method. However, I want to introduce you to a new way of adopting this technique to guarantee your success.

This new technique is based on the idea you can download a trial version and try it out risk-free for 30 days before you’re required to pay for it. Developing this mindset around starting a new habit is highly effective and best of all, it’s dead simple.

Imagine you want to start a new habit such as a workout routine, clean eating or mediating regularly. You and I both know that the first few days are easy, even fun while we ride the wave of good intentions, however sticking with our new habit for more than a couple weeks becomes a lot harder.

The reason for this is we psyche ourselves out by thinking of all the time, energy and effort we will need to invest into making our new habit permanent – before we have even started. It becomes overwhelming and the pain of doing it starts to outweigh the pleasure of the results we will experience from having developed our new habit.

But what if we switched our thinking from permanent to temporary? Let’s say you try the habit temporarily for 30 days and then you are free to give it the boot and return to life previously. Doesn’t seem so difficult anymore right?

Could you do it? Could you for instance, decide you want to instill a new habit of reading for an hour a day, everyday and after 30 days just stop if you want?

You will still need some discipline and commitment, however, not as much as making a permanent change. The perceived effort and energy it will take is only temporary and therefore it becomes easier to stick to your new habit.
So what if you actually complete your 30 day trial? What happens next?

For one, by completing the trial EVERYDAY for the 30 days – whether you like it or not – you’ve done the action enough times to establish it as a new habit in your subconscious.
Secondly, as your so comfortable and familiar with the action, your habit will become easier to do everyday than it was when you were just starting out.
Thirdly, with 30 successful days behind you – your confidence will be at an all time high and allow you to continue if you so choose.
And lastly, you will hopefully see and feel the results from implementing your habit, which gives you the experience on whether this habit is worth continuing or not.
Tips to successfully test out your new habit:

Focus on implementing/trying out one habit at a time
Prepare for your new habit – research as much information possible about your new habit before you start
Create an action plan – set up a system to support you during your habit implementation
Make your habit a daily occurrence – it’s easier to keep a regular habit going than it is to be consistent with something you only do once or twice a week
Focus on the 30 days not on making your habit permanent – count down the days till freedom if you have to
After the 30 days – re-evaluate your situation. Maybe the habit doesn’t suit you – that’s okay – no shame in stopping. Maybe you just need to alter it slightly. Or maybe you haven’t made up your mind on whether to continue it or not – try it for another 30 days – make it a 60 day or 90 day trial!
