Look, no hands! Chinese villagers take part in fish-catching competition… with one overzealous competitor resorting to using his mouth

Japanese cuisine is world famous for its raw fish. But this Chinese man has taken the ancient rivalry between his nation and its island neighbour to ridiculous extremes.

The Jaws impressionist snapped up the tiddler during a fish-catching contest in Taijang County in China’s Guizhou province. As rivals struggled to keep hold of their slippery catches, he proved that sometimes a bit of lateral thinking can be the difference between winners and losers.

The competition was part of the area’s Sisters Festival celebrations. Known as a Valentine’s Day for China’s Miao ethnic group, it is held every year on the 15th day of the third lunar month.

Obviously it would be easier to merely clamp her jaws around the fish, but she seems unwilling to resort to that
