Miss World 2017 is India’s Manushi Chhillar

A medical student from Haryana, Manushi Chhillar, is the new Miss World 2017. Elbowing aside beauties from over 108 nations, Manushi was crowned the new queen in the Sanya City Arena in China PR. Miss World 2016 winner Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle passed on the coveted crown to the new titleholder, Manushi Chhillar from India.

Manushi Chhillar is the 6th Indian to win the coveted crown. India last won the crown in 2000 when Priyanka Chopra was crowned the by Yukta Mookhey. Manushi Chhillar clinched the coveted crown after defeating 130 contestants from around the globe. The contestants were further narrowed down to Top 5 finalists wherein England, France, India, Kenya, and Mexico made the final cut.

Manushi Chhillar said in an interview,”As a kid, I always wanted to participate in the competition but I never knew I would make it this far. Winning the Miss World title is now not just my dream, but also that of my family and friends. I know it’s going to be a journey that I will never forget. Whatever the result, I am going to learn, enjoy and give it my best. The rest, I leave to destiny.”
