Steve Jobs once told Mark Zuckerberg to visit an Indian temple: Do you know which one?

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg grabbed all the headlines. During the meeting, Mark revealed that when his company was going through a rough patch, Steve Jobs advised him to visit a temple in India. According to reports the Apple co-founder experienced life-changing spiritual reflection there.

Zuckerberg told Modi about a little-known incident several years ago when, he said, Facebook “wasn’t doing so well”. The late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, he said, urged him to take a spiritual trip to India and visit a temple there reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Steve Jobs visited Kainchi Dham Ashram (during 70s possibly), in Nainital, in the state of Uttarakhand (the Ashram of Baba Neem Karoli or Baba Neeb Karori, considered a reincarnation of Lord Hanuman); and he is believed to have got the vision at this place to create Apple.

Apart from Zuckerberg, Hollywood actress Julia Roberts is also said to be influenced by Neem Karoli Baba and was drawn to Hinduism because of him.

Kainchi is a mountain ashram located in the Kumoan Hills in Uttarakand, approximately 38 km from Naini Tal. The first temple of Lord Hanuman was inaugurated in June 15, 1964. In 1962, Maharajji (Baba Neem Karoli) built a chabootara (platform) around a place where two spiritual gurus Sadhu Premi Baba and Sombari Maharaj had performed Yagyas in Kainchi village. The Hanuman temple was later built over the platform thus establishing the Kainchi Ashram.
