The Mountains Between Us trailer: Kate Winslet and Idris Elba channel DiCaprio

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for its upcoming adventure drama The Mountains Between Us.

The film, an adaptation of Charles Martin’s best-selling novel, stars Idris Elba and Kate Winslet. They play two strangers who – following a plane crash – must join forces to survive when they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness and face the extreme elements of a remote, snow covered mountain.

Beau Bridges and Dermot Mulroney also star in the film, which as been directed by Hany Abu-Assad from a script by Chris Weitz and J Mills Goodloe.

The Mountain Between Us is set to debut in theatres on October 20.
