Things You Should Know About Anurag Thakur, BCCI’s New President


Anurag Thakur today was appointed as BCCI president at the age of 41. His election was unanimous.

He is the second youngest to hold the post, the first being Fateh Singh Gaekwad at the age of 33. As he begins his new responsibilities at the helm, here are some facts one should know about him:1. Has been a member of Lok Sabha since 2008.

Has played one match in first-class cricket representing Himachal Pradesh and leading the team as captain in a match against Jammu and Kashmir in the 2000/2001 season.

Is the current president of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.

Served as secretary of the BCCI before being appointed president.

Is married to Shefali Thakur, daughter of Gulab Singh Thakur, former Public Works Department minister in the government of Himachal Pradesh, on 27 November 2002.
