This Photo Of A Baby Sleeping Near His Mom’s C-Section Scar Sends A Powerful Message To The World

To all the mothers who wish to wear their scars with pride, this one’s for you.
Most women opt for natural childbirth over cesarean deliveries to escape the stigma attached to the latter. They are openly criticised for choosing the “not natural” option. A universal dogma, this happens everywhere. To highlight the naturalness of C-sections, photographer Helen Aller, from Guernsey (UK), clicked an intimate photo of a three-day-old baby sleeping near his mom’s C-section incision.

The mom in this photo, who chose to remain anonymous, had earlier decided to opt for natural childbirth. However, due to medical complications, she was forced to undergo a cesarean operation. One that saved her and her baby’s life.
Helen Aller wrote on Facebook: “I photographed this mama’s pregnancy a while back and she was telling me how terrified she was of having a c-section. Well last week she went into labor but had to have an emergency c-section after complications. She asked me to come over this morning and shoot this particular image as her worst nightmare proved to be what saved her and her child’s lives.”
After this photo went intensely viral all over the world, Helen Aller added a little note that now reads: “EDIT: I didn’t expect this image to reach so far. I understand everyone has their own opinion which they are entitled to, all I ask is that comments are not rude or hurtful and are kept respectful. If it is not to your taste please hide it from your newsfeed. Thank you!!”

People have a lot of misgivings with cesarean childbirths. Complications arise during natural deliveries as well. It’s purely a medical decision and questioning it just doesn’t seem right. Mothers feeling ashamed of their scars is a simple result of the illogical shaming the world subjects them to. It’s nothing short of a magical gateway that brings a child into this world. Embrace it, mommies.
I was a C-sec baby and I love my mother’s scar. It’s beautiful 🙂
