“No bond is stronger than family,” teases the official trailer, released Thursday, for Lionsgate’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Kin.

Starring Carrie Cook, James Franco, and Dennis Quaid, Kin is a sci-fi story about a man who gets out of prison, only to find himself involved in an adventure he didn’t see coming. Spoiler, it’s about alien guns.

The film marks the directorial debut of brothers Jonathan and Josh Baker, who will direct the sci-fi thriller from a script by Daniel Casey.

Kin is set to hit theaters Aug. 31.
