Watch Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena in Udta Punjab trailer

The first trailer of Udta Punjab, starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles, was launched on Saturday evening. The three-minute-nine-second long video is sure to give goosebumps to viewers and adds to the anticipation of the movie directed by Abhishek Chaubey.
Udta Punjab highlights the problem of drug addiction, which has become a serious issue in Punjab. Kareena Kapoor Khan essays the role of a doctor while Shahid Kapoor plays a rockstar. Alia Bhatt is playing a Bihari migrant who was a one-time hockey player forced to work in the fields after her father’s death in Punjab.
The movie also marks the Bollywood debut of Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh, who plays a cop in the flick.
While Diljit and Shahid are good in their avatars, it is Alia who emerges as the star. The Highway star is seen holding a broken bottle and asking Tommy (Shahid), “Kon ho?” in complete Bihari accent and when he replies ‘Tommy’, she goes, ‘Kutta?’.
Dialogues like ‘Punjab will soon become like Mexico’ help add some light moments to the serious subject.
Presented by Balaji Motion pictures and produced by Phantom Pictures, Udta Punjab is all set to hit theaters on June 17, 2016.
