Badrinath Ki Dulhania movie review: Varun Dhawan’s performance steals the show, Alia Bhatt’s act leaves indelible impact

After delivering two back-to-back Box Office successes with each other, Bollywood stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt seem to be all geared up to recreate the magic once again. With their latest release ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, the duo is once again looking forward to charm the young audience with the flavours of romance and youthful antics. But, is their attempt worth buying tickets? Well, let’s find out!

The story of the movie revolves around Badrinath Bansal (Varun) who falls in love at first sight as he crosses paths with Vaidehi Trivedi (Alia). And, as expected, love doesn’t come easy in Bollywood. In order to impress Alia, Varun needs to tackle various personal and social issues. The flick also touches upon various social evils which are still prevalent in Indian society.

After several twists and turns, the storyline of ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ also takes the lead jodi to Singapore. However, the aroma of the film still remains desi at heart and romance remains the firm spine of its screenplay.

First half of the Shashank Khaitan directorial is a complete laugh riot. From expression to dialogue delivery, the 29-year-old actor has made sure that the spotlight remains on him no matter what the situation is. While the ‘Dear Zindagi’ diva leaves no opportunity to throw tantrums and discourage Badri from making Vaidehi his dulhania.

In relation to present mindsets of a few orthodox families, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ uses a few relatable yet funny terms to convey the message to the viewers. Sadly, the film loses its pace in the second-half. But, it will not bother the audience much as it was necessary to showcase the intensity of true love by diverging a bit from all the laughs.

The best part about the flick is that all the supporting characters justify their screen presence. All the actors have completely nailed their parts. Shweta Basu Prasad’s subtle screen presence will definitely touch your heart. Sahil Vaid as Badrinath’s bestie is powerful to make you go ROFL at any point of time.

Just like any Dharma Productions’ film, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is a complete music album. With foot-tapping and soul touching numbers, the music of the film appeals to the audiences of all age groups. If we talk about the direction of the of the movie, then it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Shashank aptly knows his target audience and what message he wants to convey. As a result, he has delivered a full paisa vasool product.

‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ turns out to be a complete entertainer. Keeping in mind the Holi spirit and festivities, the movie not only brings smiles on your faces but also forces you to question meaningless traditions and other social evils. In the flick, Varun Dhawan shines as an innocent lover while Alia makes an impact with her firm attitude. The film also carries the fragrance of Indian small towns in its heart.
