Is Assassin’s Creed the film with which video game movies will become a sub-genre on par with, say, comic book hero films? The film does tick all the boxes – in Michael Fassbender, Marion Cottillard and Jeremy Irons, it has more Oscar winners per inch than anything we have seen before.
