The only thing the nation wanted to know after the release of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ was, ‘Katappa ne Baahubali ko kyun mara?’ After two long years, ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ aka ‘Baahubali 2’ is going to hit the theatres and the frenzy amongst fans knows no bounds (yours truly included).
I’m sure the ‘Baahubali’ franchise thought they were making movies, great ones at that, but little did they know they were/are creating history. Yes, period dramas are called so for their opulence and grandiosity but director S. S Rajamouli has outdone all standards and has simultaneously set a benchmark for others to follow.
But apart from all the magnanimity that is visible to the naked eye, the ‘Baahubali 2’, as hinted by the trailer, pursues perfection like the first and only goes to add to the mind-boggling facts, grapevines are abuzz with. Facts that affirm- this is going to be the avenue where technology marries articulate story-telling.
So here are a few reasons why ‘Baahubali 2’ is going to be the best blend of arts and technology!
1. The larger than life climax that will solve the biggest mystery of the century-The climax has reportedly cost a whopping Rs 30 crore which is double the amount of its prequel’s climax shoot. Going by the budget, the vision that we will finally get to see on screen will the work of endless hours and tireless efforts. Plus we will finally get to the story of why Katappa killed the man, he raised as a boy!
2. Telling the tale with Virtual Reality (VR) experience-
What speaks of a blend better than this? With the advent of technology, Rajamouli’s decision to take the film and spearhead with innovation is commendable. Not to forget the real-life likeness it will bring to the entire viewing experience. Here, hear it from the horse’s mouth.
3. An aesthetic milestone with many firsts-
‘Baahubali 2’ will be the first Indian movie to get released in 4K High Definition format across theatres. Not only will it urge multiples owners to adapt to the newest technology but will add glam to glory and enhance the cinematic journey for any cinema-goer!
4. The visual effects that amplify the essence-
Cinematographer of the film, KK Senthil Kumar had earlier said that he wasn’t happy with the quality of the CGI (Computer Graphics Image) used in the first part of the Baahubali but he didn’t end without ensuring that the same will be rectified and we are not surprised! I mean, if it weren’t for CGI we would have never had those enigmatic waterfall scenes.
Even the VFX that constitutes most part of the movie is anything but unreal.
5. It has broken glass ceilings for dubbed/ regional cinema and has garnered more eyeballs than ever.
Sony TV has bought the satellite rights of Baahubali 2’s Hindi version for a record price of Rs 51 crore. It is the highest price for a dubbed film so far. It is also the highest price the channel has paid for a regional film for television screening. Need I say more?
6. Training that went beyond acting-
Both Prabhas (playing Baahubali) and Rana Daggubati (playing Bhallala Deva) went through rigorous training- physical and mental to be able to play their parts. In fact, They were even trained in martial arts by Vietnamese trainer Tuan. Both actors were made to gain around 100 kilos to look their parts. Now, this is exactly what this craft is all about!
7. The making of the BLOCKBUSTER-
Every work of art leaves behind a legacy to tell. And by the looks of it, ‘Baahubali’ will leave more than just that. It will also leave aplomb in abundance with the makers’ who dedicated around Rs 450 crore for 2 films, a 615- day shoot over 4 years, and a minimum 600-person crew on sets in the pursuit of perfection. And the rest is history!
