It is said that no matter what you do, a seasonal cold will take a week’s time to get cured. But experience says that if you take proper care along with medication then the severity can be reduced to almost 70 percent.
So, here are a few tips to cure you from the terrible cold that’s affecting your performance at work and mood at home:
Ginger tea: The first thing that comes to one’s mind is a hot cup of ginger tea. Ginger is known for its composition that not only provides warmth to the body but also soothes chest congestion.
Chicken soup: If you are a non-vegetarian then how can you miss this one! A hot chicken soup will open all your senses. People generally do not feel like eating much during a cold therefore, a bowl of your favourite chicken soup can be a healthy substitute.
Turmeric milk: The preparation is easy, just add half teaspoon of turmeric to a glass of boiling milk, 3-4 grounded black pepper and one spoon sugar. Your turmeric milk is ready- this is a must for people with cold and chest congestion as the pepper relieves you of congestion and turmeric being an antiseptic heals you of infection.
Plenty of water: Nothing can match the need of water for your body. One should drink at least 8-9 glasses of water a day, including other forms of liquid intake.
Vitamin C: Though one should consult a doctor before taking any medicine but why a vitamin C tablet is recommended in cold and flu is because of the citrus content in it. It helps in fighting the cold more effectively.
Cetirizine: The same word of caution goes for this as well. Now how it helps- The anti-histamine properties of cetirizine fights all kind of allergies, like watery eyes, itchy eyes and nose, skin allergies etc. Therefore, its a good option if you are suffering from cold.
Sleep: A good night’s sleep at least 9 hours straight is a must during cold. Your body heals itself in sleep and the medication that you are on, works well too. But the main reason why a peaceful sleep helps is because it is an immunity booster hence your recovery is accelerated.
