All of us are put on this planet for a purpose. We are a part of the big picture. But very few people discover their purpose in life. Well, most of them just exist and keep counting their days rather than making their days count.
The philosopher Socrates once declared that the unexamined life was not worth living. Asked to summarize what all philosophical commandments could be reduced to, he replied: “Know yourself.”
Yes, knowing yourself inside out really matters. But there are many people who hardly know themselves. Often, they have self-perception problems because their emotions and misconceptions lead them to false conclusions.
I agree to this fact, it takes really a hell lot of time to know yourself. We humans are so insane. I will tell you why I mentioned the word insane here. There is no point in wondering too. Gradually you will understand the little things behind huge problems.
Wait! Let me just give you a simple example:
You do not know anything about yourself. But trust me you would surely know what are your best friend’s likes and dislikes at first place rather than yours, isn’t it? Yes, this happens with most of the humans. I am not blaming anyone here in this context of likes and dislikes. It is good to know about others but it is very important to know yourself inside and out. Develop faith, and persistence which are all the functions of the mind.
The first step in fixing to know yourself is to identify how you see yourself. One way to get started is a technique from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (or CBT) programs.
I recommend writing ten of your strengths on one side of a paper, and ten weaknesses on the other. This exercise forces you to take an honest look at yourself. Along with these take a thought provoking question and answer it in one sentence, but answer differently each day.
1. Why did you get up this morning?
2. Are you more an introvert or an extrovert?
3. Were you content before you fell asleep?
Get inspired by your soul. Trust your inner self rather than complaining about it. Knowing yourself is definitely beyond knowing your favorite food of your ideal mate. It is about discovering yourself which take you days, or maybe even months together
The whole point here is, to know yourself you need to spend more time with yourself.
Stay happy, help others, let go few things, spread joy, and stay empowered.
