Kochi: Soon as Kerala-based IPS officer Merin Joseph took charge as ACP in Kochi she went viral on Facebook – for being too attractive.
The picture posted by Kochi pazhaya Kochiyalla, a civic issues-related page on Facebook, of a woman called Merin Joseph with the caption New ACP of Kochi, went viral when the post asked the follower ‘How many likes for our new ACP of Kochi’ and the liking frenzy began with over 2400 Likes (at the time of writing the story) and shared almost 90 times along with a flood of comments complimenting her looks.
A users commented on her picture that he won’t mind getting arrested by her while one went as far to say that he wants to start robbing after seeing the picture of the policewoman.
After the picture went viral and was even shared on chatting app WhatsApp, a report said that the news was fake.
A report in an English daily said that Joseph an IPS trainee, underwent training in Kochi for two weeks. The report also said that she led an Indian delegation to the Y20 Australian summit.
Merin cleared the civil services examination in her first attempt in 2012 after completing her graduation from St Stephen’s College in New Delhi.
There was a clarification from Joseph herself on being appointed as the new Kochi ACP. She, on Facebook, denied the reports and wrote, “An urgent clarification- i am NOT the new ACP of Kochi. Still under training in NPA Hyderabad. Will update when I get my first charge in January next year. Kindly refrain from believing baseless rumours floating in social media. Thanks(sic).”
Her post was liked by over 5000 users and was shared over 300 times.
