A new, second trailer for Netflix-Marvel’s next superhero offering, Iron Fist is here. Finn Jones stars as the lead and is joined by a fresh new cast and some familiar alums from the series’ sister shows, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
Jones, whom you’ve seen earlier in Game of Thrones as Loras Tyrell, plays orphan Danny Rand whose parents died in a plane crash when he was 10 years old. He was the sole survivor.
Years later, after having lived his formative years under the guidance of monks who taught him martial arts, he returns to his father’s company, Rand Enterprises. He realises that things are not running here as they should and ‘some bad people have gotten on the inside’. We think he is talking about David Wenham who plays Harold Meachum.
Wai Ching Ho makes a return from Daredevil as the looming, sinister figure of Madame Gao, filling Meachum’s head with evil like the Lucifer. There is another, more pleasant return of Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, the one who ties all the four series together. She guides him on how to fight the people who mean harm and criticises him on his cheesy choice of alias for himself: Iron Fist.
Apart from learning martial arts, Danny has also somehow learnt how to turn his fist into a hot ball of iron. We are not debating the logic of it because every time it registers into someone’s jaw the sound of it is simply, musical.
Judging from the trailer, we are in for another dozen hours of brilliant action if not as impeccable storytelling as Daredevil, Jessica Jones or Luke Cage. Iron Fist streams on Netflix on March 17.
