Modi said Sardar Patel not only gave revolutionary ideas but he was able to translate it into action by finding solution to the most complicated problems post India’s independence.

“Translating a thought into reality was his forte. Sardar Patel took on the reins of weaving a unified India. He ensured that millions of Indians were brought under the ambit of one nation and one constitution,” Modi said

In West Bengal Govt to colleges… Ignore Centre’s directive on paying tribute on Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary. “The Union government has no right to enforce anything on us. Paying tribute or respect cannot be on the basis of any directive from anyone. We specially take objection to the directive on video-recording the event and sending the same to the UGC.”

Incidentally, the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi also falls on the same day.
