The trailer of Advait Chandan’s directorial debut Secret Superstar is an extension of the teaser but reveals interesting developments in the narrative as well.
It shows how the protagonist, played by Zaira Wasim, discovers her musical inclination by watching Aamir Khan, who plays music director Shakti Kumar, give away the award for Best Singer. (Aamir at an award show, rare eh?) Later, we see him give a pep talk to Wasim’s character in a Taare Zameen Par way, but through an interesting analogy.
Aamir also appears in the final seconds of the trailer and delivers an irresistibly hilarious dialogue which is sure to leave you in splits.
The poster, recently released by Aamir Khan, of his next production Secret Superstar featured Wasim walking towards her school but the background was full of musical notes which hinted at her secret singing aspirations.
The teaser of Secret Superstar, released by Aamir earlier this year, showed how a Muslim girl (played by Wasim) pursues her dream of becoming a ‘superstar’ but under the veil of a burkha.
Aamir, who plays a caricaturish music director in the film, will be seen in a wacky avatar but will only have 30 minutes of screen time in his extended cameo. His look was quite similar to that from Abhinay Deo’s 2011 black comedy Delhi Belly in which he did an item number, ‘I Hate You Like I Love You’, with VJ Anusha Dandekar.
Secret Superstar was initially scheduled to release this Friday on 3 August, alongside Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy Jab Harry Met Sejal, but Aamir postponed the release to Diwali. Now, it will clash with Rohit Shetty’s comedy ensemble Golmaal Again.
