Four more arrested in anti-beef activist Prashanth Poojary murder case

 

Earlier, the Mangalore police had arrested 4 men who had been part of the crime. With these fresh arrests, the total number of arrested accused in this case has gone up to 8.

The Mangalore police have arrested 4 more men who they claim have direct involvement in the murder of the Bajrang Dal activist Prashanth Poojary. The arrested people have been identified as Mohammed Sharief, Mohammed Kavoor, Mohammed Mustafa and Kabir.

The Mangalore police commissioner told India today that they are hoping to bring the case to its logical end.Police have said there is no proof that all the accused belong to any one group.

Poojary was against animal trafficking and has been involved in several raids on slaughter houses in the past. Poojary’s opposition to the beef industry is said to be one of the reasons behind the murder.

On October 9, Prashanth, a flower vendor by profession, was hacked to death by six bike-borne miscreants, in Moodabidri. The incident had led to communal tension in the region with the police deploying additional forces.
