Watch: Trailer for Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting 2 is all about a ‘Lust for Life’

It’s been 20 years since the first Trainspotting movie debuted onscreen with it’s fast paced opening scene that made it so memorable.

The introduction of the four protagonists was set to Iggy Pop’s drug anthem ‘Lust For Life’. The teaser trailer for the sequel, Trainspotting 2, returns with the same song playing in the background and seems to be director Danny Boyle’s way of trying to get loyalists to return to watch their favourite generation defining film.

The adrenaline thumping song breaks through the sounds of a train passing though the tracks — and the four protagonists who are standing in the background are introduced one by one as along with the familiar orange colour scheme of the first movie. Ewan McGregor (Renton), Ewen Bremner (Spud), Jonny Lee Miller (Sick Boy) and Robert Carlyle (Begbie) reunite to play the roles that kick started their respective careers.

The second movie is rumoured to be based on Irvine Welsh’s follow-up novel, Porno. The movie takes place 20 years after the original, and sees the gang reunite over the backdrop of the homemade pornography industry and of course, drugs are involved.
