6th Annual Oakville Diwali Gala raised funds of over $140,000.

 

Lakeshore Convention Centre in Oakville glittered with festivities and light during the celebration of the 6th annual Oakville Diwali Gala 2019 on September 20 in support of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH).

The glamorous evening presented by Oakville Diwali Gala was attended by more than 400 guests to enjoy the theme of Lights, Camera, Auction. Guests were received with a group of paparazzies taking photos and asking quirky questions to guests, generating a moment of curiosity of what to expect inside the party hall.

Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada in his letter to OHF extended his warmest greetings to everyone attending the Diwali Fundraising Gala, for supporting this worthy cause and making a difference in the health and well-being of the fellow citizens.

The celebration of Oakville Diwali in a Bollywood meets Hollywood style evening presented an exciting performances by Canada’s #1 Bollywood Dance Company, Broken Dance, which specializes in creating unique choreography and shows.

“The chief aim of this festival is to benefit the expansion of the surgical program and putting essential equipment in the hands of OTMH caregivers and giving patients access to new surgical procedures to facilitate them with optimal patient experience,” announced Mary McPherson, CEO Oakville Hospital Foundation, in her welcome message and added “we applaud you for your leadership.”

Rekha Sharma, Chair, Oakville Diwali, in her message to the guests, reminded the words of John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you, – ask what you can do for your country” and further added, “With your support and our efforts, let’s make patient experience more pleasant.”

The proceeds donated from the event totalled to over $140,000.

This year, the Gala also included in the fundraising efforts were: “Pop the balloon” in the Balloon Burst to win some excellent gifts and the Live Auction for the chance to win an adventurous trip, and many more elite prizes! Balloons cost $75 each and included the chance to win one of three exclusive gift certificates to Knar Jewellery valued at $1,000, $1,500 and $2,500.
