Vastu is the Indian science of directions, and it teaches us how to optimise on the various directions and achieve the best of everything, simply by occupying space in the most favourable way. In this context, I wish to examine India’s destiny vis-a-vis the directions…
India’s Destiny: Mountainous North
India has the Himalayas in its North as well as its North-east, which – Vastu experts say – goes against Vastu. It is the reason that poverty remains an unending issue in our country…
Watery South
Then, the presence of abundant water in India’s south-west and south-east, in the form of the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal, has resulted in us becoming frequent victims of foreign attacks in our history.
Himalayan Slopes
One thing that makes India famous is that we have our slope towards east, which is a very favourable and auspicious sign.
What We Don’t Have
India doesn’t have water in the North-east, like Japan does. If it had, it would have been most auspicious for India, besides making it one of the most prosperous countries in the world, like Japan…
However, unlike India, Mumbai is a city lucky enough to have water in the North-East and the Atomic Power Plant (which represents the element of fire, or Agni) in the South-East. No wonder, it is the most prosperous as well as powerful city in India.
Tirupati Balaji Temple
The location and construction of the famous Balaji Temple, the most prosperous temple in India, is believed to be Vastu-friendly, which explains its enormous success as an oft-visited as well as wealthy temple.
Indian Parliament
The late Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the worldwide Transcendental Meditation movement, once opined that it was the bad Vastu or layout of the Indian Parliament that was perpetually fuelling political infighting, impeding governmental progress, and wasting precious taxpayer money.
The Sun’s Rays
In a message issued from his Holland headquarters, the Maharishi shared his belief about the science of Vastu, according to which, layout and orientation have a powerful influence on the occupants of a home or office building. An eastern entrance facing the rising sun is good because it promotes orderly thinking, harmonious relations and success. North is also good. But an entrance facing south or west, promotes disorderly thinking, conflict, negativity and widespread problems.
Try It For Yourself
To those who pooh-pooh such theories, Maharishi had this to say: “People can verify it for themselves. If they are living in a building with a south or west entrance, or an entrance that is ‘tilted’ (facing southwest or northeast) they will find themselves shrouded in unrest, fears and problems. But if their house faces east, they will enjoy harmony, happiness and prosperity,” he said.
Take A Second Look
For this reason, Maharishi goes as far as to suggest that India rebuild those buildings which are Vastu-unfriendly. “These buildings should be immediately rebuilt with a proper layout, according to the principles of Vedic architecture,” Maharishi said.
Chaos Behind The Beauty
According to Maharishi, “Even a beautiful Parliament building made of marble, designed by a famous architect, should be demolished if it has a wrong layout. Otherwise, the mind of the President, Prime Minister, and his ministers will never be settled – their thinking will always be disorderly and off-balance.”
Leading With Vastu
According to Maharishi, the nation will thrive when government leaders live and work in Vastu offices and residences…
Living With Vastu
…and families will enjoy greater prosperity, improved relations and more happiness when they move to Vastu homes…
What Makes Taj Mahal Rule Our Hearts?
It is also Vastu that makes the Taj Mahal so famous and have an immense hold over our hearts, whereas a near-similar structure – Chandbibi ka Makbara – is unknown to most people…
