The Snowman trailer: Michael Fassbender tracks down a serial killer in this Nordic noir thriller

The upcoming horror/thriller The Snowman, featuring Michael Fassbender and Rebecca Ferguson in lead roles, is an adaptation of a 2007 novel, written by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø, of the same name.

It was the seventh installment of Nesbø’s detective series, Harry Hole. The upcoming film’s story revolves around Hole (played by Fassbender) in pursuit of a psycho-serial killer who is on the loose and uses snowmen as a signature. So there are loads of these snowmen in the 2.35 minute-long trailer. In his journey of finding the killer, Hole is accompanied by a new recruit named Katrine Bratt (Ferguson).

The trailer starts with a hair-raising murder of a woman whose decapitated body is found and with that starts the unnerving chase for the mad murderer who is known as the “snowman killer”. Hole and Bratt connect the dots with previous cases, and clues from the most recent one, to trace the killer. Jonny Greenwood’s score makes the proceedings even spookier.

One of the scariest aspects of the trailer seems to be snowman. But this one’s no Olaf from Frozen!

The Snowman, also starring JK Simmons, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Toby Jones, is directed by Tomas Alfredson, who has films like Let the Right One In (2008) and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) to his credit.

The film has been shot in Norway, in the cities of Oslo and Bergen and the area of Rjukan. The Snowman is slated to release on 20 October.
