Planning a holiday is super exciting, but even more so when you know it’s not going to burn a huge hole in your pocket! Budget holidays are awesome because you often discover yourselves looking for places to visit, restaurants to eat at, shops to buy from that are low-key, authentic and also present yourself with unique experiences!

So, here is a list of 8 fantastic, yet low-on expenditure, travel holidays that you can take with your friends and family this summer!

1. Xi’an – China
Xi’an is one of the most popular tourist destinations in China! Minus the glitz and glamour of Beijing and Shanghai, Xi’an brings to life Chinese culture, cuisine and charisma! Known to be a haven to soak up information about Chinese culture, this city is full of museums and monuments that are significant to the Cantonese history. It is also a place that celebrates the Buddhist faith, and is home to beautiful landmarks such as Small and Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, the Terracotta Museum is one of a kind, and definitely a must visit!

2. Brasov – Romania
This city is actually home to the Dracula! We aren’t kidding right now, the Bran Castle which inspired the story is just a close ride from Brasov. The city is also home to the narrowest street in all of Europe. The tickets are cheap, as Romania is still less popular amongst Indian tourists, so you can indulge in all your guilty pleasures of roaming about with splurging your money!

3. Nuwara Eliya – Sri Lanka
Golfing! Waterfalls! Hiking! This is a great place for some rejuvenation and also some adventure. Known as the “city of lights,” the vast fields, the pretty scenery and the fresh and invigorating winds, this place definitely marks one of our favorite getaway destinations. One can spend endless number of hours just relaxing and enjoying amidst the blue waters, boating or fishing. Plus points because it is very close to India !

4. Vientiane – Laos
A perfect destination for the perfectly budgeted travel holiday, this is a place for a good choice to get away from the maddening crowd! The beautiful temples and morning markets will make your trip worth the while with their fresh small and cozy restaurants, jewellery, fruit stalls, handmade musical instrument and other beautifully carved crafts!

5. Nusa Lembongan – Bali
This place is not only super inexpensive but also is tons of fun! Backpacking, surfing, the white sandy beaches and riverside restaurants are some of the main tourist attractions and you don’t even have to worry about spending all your money here! This place can surely be enjoyed with little cash and lots of enthusiasm to spend a nice and relaxing few days out from the everyday rut!

6. Tsechustake place – Bhutan
Known for its rich culture and yummy Bhutanese cuisine (of course happiness too), you can eat here to your heart’s content along with being a part of some of the most amazing festivals that take place here. Cool winds, high altitudes, serene environment and warm nice Himalayan food will make this for a wonderful break destination! You can attend some of the low-key ones to get a feel of their culture and take some colourful pictures that will make for the best souvenirs for your friends and family! You can also cut on your travel expenses by signing up for a home stay that will give you all the facilities, only at a lesser price!

7. Ben Tre – Vietnam
Exotic scenery, cruise along the river and a touch of love, Vietnam will give you a taste of everything! This place can be enjoyed most at dusk in the company of some fireflies where you can spend hours catching them and spending quality time with your loved one under the vast sky!
