When all politicians, media were busying in blame game over Cauvery issue, Kannada actor Upendra has dared those politicians and media to stop spreading hatred and find a solution to the Cauvery problem. He has also given a valid advice as to how Cauvery water problem can be solved.
The Cauvery issue did not start 2-3 years back but it’s existed over a century. But no political party or any leader has shown political will to solve this issue. Instead they have made it a political gimmick and are playing with the people’s sentiments and life. The recent Cauvery violence which erupted last week has caused innumerable damage and bad name to both states. In last couple days the situation turned so serious that police had to use Golibar and Sec 144 to control the violence. But what is awful is none of the political parties in Karnataka or Tamil Nadu are speaking about resolving the issue through talks or finding solution.
Here is one person Upendra who has spoken sense. Yesterday in an interview to Public TV, Upendra has blasted all the media for showing sensitive issue irresponsibly which led to violence in Bangalore, Mysore and Mandya districts.
He asked the media persons why don’t they discuss “How to solve Cauvery issue” rather than simply blaming each other. He suggested Subramnian Swamy’s advice on how Desalination of sea water can be permanent solution to drinking water problem. This method has been adapted in Dubai which has solved the drinking water crisis in a dessert. Israel which does not have a single river uses desalinated water by which the entire Israel receives 24 hour water supply.
Subramanian Swamy from years has also been suggesting this solution of using desalination method. He has given examples of how Kalpakkam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu had severe drinking water shortage, for which they adapted Desalination Plants which has now solved the entire issue of water crisis and they do not depend on state government for water supply. Jamnagar in Gujarat also faced similar problems. The municipality had acute water shortage, the Reliance company implemented the desalination methods for water purification. Now there is absolutely no water shortage and the entire city faces no drinking water problem. So what we need to understand is there is a PERMANENT and EASY solution for Cauvery issue, but what lacks is political will.
Who doesn’t want Cauvery issue to be solved??
This is the interesting part, now there are thousands of companies which supplies drinking water in both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Most of these factories are owned by politicians or they have an understanding with politicians. They want to create an artificial shortage of water which will help them make money. Certain percentage of money goes to politicians. And that is exactly why they never want Cauvery issue to be sorted out.
Desalination Cost
Many people believe desalination of sea water is expensive….But the Answer is NO!!!
Ten years back it costed 10 times more than drawing freshwater from traditional sources, but today it cost just half of it.
Chennai itself has applied this technology not long ago. Chennai Water Desalination Ltd. (CWDL) is a special purpose vehicle of IVRCL Infrastructure & Projects Ltd. and Befesa Agua of Spain created in 2005 to design, build, own and operate the seawater desalination plant for the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB). With an installed capacity to produce 100 million litres of drinking water per day (MLD), it is the largest such plant in India.
It been working since July 2010, and average production has been 90 MLD. With Chennai being a burgeoning metropolis with an unfulfilled requirement of nearly 400 MLD of water, this project is the first among a series of desalination plants being planned in the state to meet the deficit in supply.
Bangalore lost 25,000 crore on Monday when violence broke out, if the same amount was to be used to set up one Desalination plant then why can’t we solve the drinking water crisis???
ADVISE TO POLITICIANS:
STOP BLAMING EACH OTHER, STOP GIVING EXCUSES THAT CENTRE HAS TO INTERVENE, SUPREME COURT HAS TO INTERVENE, PM & PRESIDENT HAS TO INTERVENE, ITS JUST AN EXCUSE TO GET AWAY FROM RESPONSIBILITIES!
YOU DO NOT SUFFER DURING SUMMERS, ITS POOR PEOPLE AND FARMERS WHO SUFFER. SO STOP WINING AND UTILIZE THE TECHNOLOGY IN THE 21st CENTURY. WE NO LONGER WILL IN A MEDIEVAL AGE, WE HAVE THE MOST ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY, UTILIZE THEM AND FIND A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THIS CENTURY OLD PROBLEM.
