The climb up Niagara – the collective name of the three waterfalls on the border of Canada and the United States of America – was done under the supervision of the New York State Park Police to ensure the site wasn’t harmed in any way. A day before the climb, Will had to break off any ice spikes on his set route that could have caused problems later on.
Talking to CBC News, Will said: “It’s the biggest, coolest, wildest, most well-known waterfall in North America. As an ice climber, that’s very, very attractive.” Will has previously scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.
Sponsored by Red Bull, Will’s climb – which began on the American side of the falls – has been documented on video and through pictures. The video uploaded by Red Bull on its official YouTube channel has garnered over 2 lakh views in just a day.
